Introduction to Computer Apps (CIS101)

Course Description

This introductory course will provide students the core concepts needed to utilize word processing skills such as creating documents, formatting text, and editing documents; presentation skills such as creating slideshows with themes, transitions and animations; spreadsheet skills such as creating spreadsheets using simple formulas, complex formulas and inserting charts. These skills will provide students with a solid foundation in computer literacy that can be used to enhance their academic excellence and/or the running of theirbusinesses/childcare.

This course includes discussions of fundamental, current and new technologies that are prevalent in today's technology. Students will utilize the internet to access online resources such as professional information, training, licensure, marketing, and recordkeeping. Students will expand their knowledge on the use of applications such as those contained in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.”

It is strongly recommended that students have at least one year of experience using computer programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Students may also complete CIS 100 to prepare for this course. Students in this course must have internet access and a computer or laptop.
