Course Description

This course of study reviews a number of theories and practices in counseling individuals and groups in multiple contexts. Various theoretical approaches to counseling are explored and practical exercises in interviewing and counseling methods will be provided. Counseling settings include the workplace and the roles of the manager in providing coaching, mentoring, counseling and traditional mental health settings. Special focus is placed on the impact of social and cultural dynamics. Prerequisite: PSY 100
