Course Description
This course introduces students to the realm of literature for children. Through studying, reading, listening to and using books and poems, students develop sensitivity to qualities in literature which are meaningful to children. This courses guides students in the development and application of criteria for evaluating children’s literature. In addition, students will be introduced to the major areas of controversy such as children’s reading, racism, sexism, preferences, censorship and fairy tales. Prerequisite: Eligibility for ENG101L or higher
